Very likely I was also one of the oldest people on the plane. That really is mind boggling to me, who always looked young, was treated young, and acted young--not much of that has changed. Oh, there may have been others traveling by themselves, but I wonder if any were off on a solitary trip because they love to travel alone.
If it weren’t for this blog, no one would have an inkling of what I do when I leave home for a couple of weeks every few months. Here in Florence I wander about, drink cappuccino, eat pasta, visit favorite paintings and sculptures in favorite museums and churches, wander some more, write, read, and wander some more.
I am very grateful that I am healthy enough to do this; that I learned to travel at an early age; and that I have a family who knows how important this is to me and who feels free enough themselves to celebrate what I do.
Here are some of yesterday’s wandering scenes. Today it is raining so I’ll head over to the Uffizi. I have purchased my 2016 Amichi degli Uffizi card that gets me in free and allows me to avoid the lines. Of course in January there are no lines.
