You can do this if you can get over that ‘I am not an artist’ thought. It doesn’t matter. Just skip the stage that ‘real’ artists have to go through-- the one where they learn to paint realistically--and instead become an instant abstract artist. Paint away.
It was my granddaughter’s suggestion do some painting after our visit to the Museum of Fine Arts. You can imagine many of the benefits and rewards we shared together, but one that surprised me was how we worked in relative silence. The visual took over; to quote Anthony Storr, we were ‘alone in the presence of”. A very unique and extremely satisfying kind of solitude.
