This 10:50 Aiitalia flight challenges a morning person like me. When I arrive in Rome, it will already be 12:30, but I will make the adjustment. I’ll take a train to Florence, check in at the apartment I’ve rented, and wander to Piazza della Signoria, where I always have my first meal upon arrival at this, my absolute favorite city.
I’m looking forward to this week alone, but I’m not even close to desperate (I never am). After all, I was in Florence a little over a month ago. And yet, I love being alone in this city, and am very grateful for any opportunity I get.
I believe I can cherish these times alone because my life is not lonely. Ever. Especially not on this trip! Why? On the 18th I will meet my son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren in Rome, where we will begin a whirl-wind week, there and in Florence. I am very grateful.
