Oh. what a wonder Pride Day celebration yesterday in my small New England town--at the library, the preschool at my church, and my church. Churches, temples, and helping organizations both national and grassroots set up tables in the church parking lot. Except for food--ice cream and pizza-- everything was free. All shades of hair dye and nail polish were popular, as was the huge slide for energetic folks. Sign language, your name written in Hebrew, musical performances, GLBTQ+ books on display and for purchase, and all kids of crafts such as making a rainbow bracelet…..
The day was not filled with silence, solitude, and simplicity in the usual way, but I believe everyone left feeling peaceful and hopeful. And for sure that included the dad who came out from Boston because he had read that this was a family event.
