Clearly not everyone understands the purpose of my blog. Just as a reminder, I write it so I can sort out what solitude, silence and simplicity means to me, and in sharing, I hope to help others on their journey along that road. But lately it seems that commercial cottages and resorts by the sea have found my site and are using it as a way to advertise. Um, I was wondering where the 243 ‘Unique Visitors’ came from on Friday. Then, when I received a comment advertising security systems, I knew that at least one ‘hit’ was not from a friend or friend of friend. Thankfully my blog is set up so I receive the comments and can delete them with one click.
Intentionally, I have not advertised my blog, nor have I put anything on that resembles advertising. It has been found by word of mouth and perhaps an occasional Google search (hence the commercial ventures). I want it to be a simple experience. If people find it, wonderful; I hope it helps them. If people return to it, wonderful; I hope they feel inspired, affirmed and encouraged. If no one comes to the site, well, maybe not wonderful; I hope I can accept that the universe needs something different.
