My Day offers the possibility of being alone, while traveling or at home. Of course my husband is here; we talk and eat supper together, but it is still ‘My Day.’ I could announce that I plan to be silent all day, and that tonight will be a get-your-own-supper night. My choice.
What do I choose to do on a ‘My Day’? It varies. I’d like to read all day. I’ll finish The Undoing Project, by Michael Lewis and get into the 800 pages of Joyce Carol Oates’ A Book of American Martyrs. I’ll work on my article about traveling alone and writing in Florence, and peruse the internet for a site on which to post it. I’ll distribute posters advertising Andrea Baker’s “Sing Sistha Sing’ performance at my church on May 6. That’s how ‘My Day’ is forming at the moment. But it may change. My choice.
