This historical novel is about the Borgia family: Alexander VI, Pope from 1492–1503, and two of his children, Cesare and Lucrezia. It is a story of nepotism (favoritism, as in appointment to a job, based on kinship), which makes for great fiction, but frightful and treacherous non-fiction when played out in the political arena.
I have compassion for all of us who are effected by nepotism, as well as for family members who are sucked into its tunnel that has no outlet.
