If you want to immerse yourself in a long, fascinating story, if you have some anglophile blood in you, and if you are willing to embrace the possibility of ghosts, give this one a try. The plot goes back and forth in time but it holds together with a perfect fit. I felt compassion for the many characters, the good, the evil, the frivolous, profound, and everyone in between.
